End-of-Course Info

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the end of the semester, we want to make you aware that South Carolina End-of-Course Examinations (EOCs) will soon be administered at Andrew Jackson High School. These assessments, required by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE), measure student mastery of state standards and serve as an important indicator of both student achievement and school performance.

EOCs are administered to students enrolled in the following courses:

  • English II Writing – Friday, December 5th

  • English II Reading – Tuesday, December 9th

  • Biology I – Wednesday, December 10th

  • U.S. History and the Constitution – Thursday, December 11th

Each EOC counts as 20% of the student’s final course grade and must be taken by all students enrolled in these subjects, including those receiving instruction through virtual or homebound programs.

Testing Attendance

Because this test is mandatory, it is important that students are present and on time for their scheduled exam days. Please avoid scheduling doctor’s appointments, vacations, or other out-of-school activities during testing hours. Makeup testing opportunities are limited, and consistent attendance ensures the smooth administration of exams for all students.

Electronic Devices Policy

In accordance with SCDE testing regulations, students may not possess any electronic devices during testing that can be used for communicating, recording, timing, or storing images; this includes cell phones, smartwatches, AirPods, and similar items.

All electronic devices must be stored in the student’s bookbag and powered off throughout the test. Please review the district’s Electronic Devices Policy, which includes the disciplinary consequences for accessing or using an unauthorized device during testing.

Parent Resources

The South Carolina Department of Education provides a Parent Resource webpage to help families understand statewide testing. The site includes:

  • Student and Parent Brochures in ten translated languages

  • Sample score reports

  • Additional tools and updates for families

You can access these resources here: https://ed.sc.gov/tests/assessment-information/student-and-parent-resources/

Thank you for your continued support in helping our students prepare for these important assessments. Your cooperation ensures a smooth, focused, and secure testing environment for all students.

If you have any questions regarding EOC testing or your child’s testing schedule, please feel free to contact me.

Warm regards,

Haylea Bowers
