Join Meredith Danztler, CERRA’s Pre-Collegiate Program Director, as she shares Dr. Fitzpatrick’s inspiring journey from Teacher Cadet to Lancaster County School District Superintendent. The special three-part video series will premiere every Thursday night at 7:00, starting on September 12th, and will run through October 3rd, on CERRA’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.

We are excited for the sports seasons and after-school activities to be underway. Lancaster County School District places safety for students, staff, and community members as a priority. Please join us in keeping our campuses and facilities safe. First and foremost, we expect every visitor to our activities to be respectful toward the athletes, thespians, band members, staff, administrators, other guests, and law enforcement partners working at our events. All guests to our district events are required to adhere to our Clear Bag Policy. When guests come to our facilities, they will not be permitted into the activities with any bag other than a clear bag. The bags also may not be larger than 12 by 12 inches and 6 inches deep. Weapons are not permitted on school property – including during sporting events, forums, and arts performances - unless you are a sworn law enforcement officer permitted to carry with proper identification. Our Safety and Security team will be working entrances to many of our events to screen guests for weapons. Entry to District Events This year we have revised our entry guidelines for school events to promote a safer environment for our community. Anyone under the age of 18 not currently enrolled in school must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult. Elementary and middle school students must have an adult accompany them at events. No elementary and middle school students will be permitted to stay unaccompanied. Guests to our events will not be allowed to stand, congregate, or “hang out” in the concourse or around the concession stand areas during events. Any violation of rules may result in removal or being trespassed. Our safety and security team will continue collaborating with the Lancaster Police Department and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office to ensure everyone can feel comfortable and safe in our facilities. *This applies to all events open to the public. The safety of your children is our top priority, and I deeply regret that the communication surrounding their transportation has not met the standards you deserve and expect from us. The information that was shared with you was believed to be accurate at the time of distribution. However, it has become clear that there were significant errors or omissions in the data, which have caused undue stress and concern for many families. I take full responsibility for this situation, and I understand how critical reliable transportation is for our students and families. Please know that our transportation office is working diligently to correct these errors and will provide you with all bus route information as quickly as possible. We understand the impact this has on your daily routines and your peace of mind, and we are committed to making things right. Moving forward, we are taking immediate steps to ensure that our communication is clear, accurate, and timely. We are also implementing additional checks and safeguards to prevent this kind of issue from occurring again in the future. District Bus Routes for Monday Please read the information in its entirety and then click on for routes. Please remember these are general descriptions and will vary upon unforeseen external factors. Parents you will receive an email this evening with your child’s bus numbers. If your child is a car rider, you will see a “C” for both morning and afternoon transportation. You can also view your child’s bus numbers by logging into your parent portal account and selecting student reports. The link below will give you estimated bus pick up times for each bus route. Select your child's school to view the current bus routes. Please note: Bus routes may vary 15 minutes before or after the scheduled route time. Please have your child out at the bus stop early and expect delays coming home from school for the first few weeks while we work out any issues. These times are estimated, and routes are subject to change based on service needs of our students. August 9, 2024 - Due to weather concerns and in order to provide time for schools to be ready for Monday, August 12, 2024, ALL student orientation for 6th and 9th graders and Indian Land 5th and 7th graders has been canceled. Open houses and other orientations have been canceled, and you will receive information from your child's school regarding rescheduling. Lancaster County School District will be OPEN for normal operating hours for staff.

LCSD CLOSED August 8, 2024 Lancaster County School District has been in contact with Emergency Management. Lancaster County is currently under a flood watch. Due to potential flooding and hazardous conditions caused by Tropical Storm Debby, as a safety precaution, ALL Lancaster County schools, buildings, and facilities will be closed on Thursday August 8, 2024. ALL events and activities are cancelled. ALL open houses and orientations scheduled for August 8, 2024 are canceled and will be rescheduled.

Active shooter training will be held on the campus of Buford High School located at 4290 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, and Thursday, Aug. 1. Training will be led by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department. Lancaster County School District personnel and multiple first responder agencies and departments will participate. The training will be very realistic with a lot of activity and noise including simulated gunfire in and around the school. However, no live ammunition will be present on site. A helicopter might be in the air during a portion of the exercise. The public is advised that this is a training exercise and not an actual public safety emergency. The campus of the school will be inaccessible to the public on the training days. Agency personnel, vehicles and equipment will stage on and near the campus during the training, including in the parking lot of Buford Middle School adjacent to the football stadium. Signs alerting the public to the training exercise will be posted on Rocky River Road near the school, and Tabernacle Road will be closed from Rocky River to Smokey Starnes roads during the training. Motorists should use caution when driving through the area. The event is closed to the media.

Beginning this summer, LCSD will phase out our current email/call communication system, Blackboard Connect. It will be replaced with Apptegy Alerts. Be on the lookout for communication from this new system and do not "delete" or "unsubscribe." Remember, this communication is from the school and the district, and lots of important information is shared through this email/call system.
